*We were very impressed with our recent stay at the Steinhart. Not only are the apartments perfectly decorated it also gave us lots of space for our week long stay at a much cheaper rate than just a plain hotel room. I was traveling with my 5 mos old daughter from New Zealand and meeting up with my parents from Colorado. When we began to consider being cooped up in two hotel rooms without a kitchen or common space (at San Fran prices) I researched and found the Steinhart online. I was not disappointed but rather it exceeded our expectations. We all joked that we would love to rent this apartment if we moved to the city. A very unique and large space. I was also conducting some work while we were there and the free wi-fi was an added plus. I get so sick of every hotel having ad-on pricing for everything. While it is not a full service hotel, Dimitar the property manager was either at the hotel or just a phone call away and was still able to provide all the concierge services we would expect at hotel including calling for a cab, getting us an extra hair dryer and any other needs we had. He was very professional and available The location is also good with grocery stores, cafes and shops very close and a 10 min walk to Union Square. Overall a great experience!

*We just spent a very enjoyable week at The Steinhart last month. A real haven after hours of shopping the in busy city. Our one bedroom apartment was on the top floor, and it included everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Food stores a couple doors away and within walking distance of all the shops of Union Square. The pull-down bed in the living room was just as comfortable as the regular bed in the bedroom. A sliding pocket door completely divides the apartment into two rooms making it very private for the sleepers in both rooms. And, of course, there are televisions and phones in both rooms. The layout allowed guests in both rooms to use the bathroom at night without disturbing anyone in the other room. The kitchen includes everything you would need--including a dishwasher and garbage disposal unit. This was our visit to the Steinhart but we'll definitely return.

*As a solo female traveler I found The Steinhart provided the ideal safe, comfortable and affordable accommodation. The heritage building with its modern conveniences is centrally located, and the staff did everything possible to make my stay enjoyable. My studio apartment was clean and quiet, with a separate well set-up kitchen - including a dishwasher! Anyone wanting a pleasant and reasonably priced hotel in San Francisco should choose The Steinhart

*Love this hotel!  I'm not sure why other yelpers gave this place such low marks, but I think this place is great. I just returned from a week stay here and I loved every minute of it. Great location for easy walking access to Union Square ( if you like tourists) , Pacific Heights, the Fillmore District, Japan town. I felt comfortable, well taken care of, and safe at all times. The area is good and REAL San Francisco and remarks about this being a rough area are false. There were far fewer panhandlers in this area than I've ever seen in the Union Square area. My room was clean, had a fully loaded kitchen, the most comfortable bed I could imagine, two flat screen TVs and a great CLEAN bathroom. Another great feature of this hotel is the staff. Very caring, helpful and friendly. I discovered all of the "best of" places to eat and drink within 2 blocks of this hotel too. Best lattes at Farm:Table, best sandwiches at Bite, best local bar at Aces, best pizza at Fly... all within 2 blocks of the hotel. There's a grocery store next door too. I was staying here on my own and never even for one second felt unsafe. I didn't want to leave. Check Trip Advisor out for the true reviews of this hotel. It's wonderful, and I will certainly stay here again and again.

*Stayed at the Steinhart last week and had a great time! The property management team was great and very accommodating. The building is truly a personality property and a great San Francisco experience. Very centrally located in the city which gave us the opportunity to move thru most parts of the city on foot. (Nob Hill, China Town, north beach, the wharf and union square.) Can't wait to go back!!! Thanks for everything Dimitar!
